Young Living’s Geranium essential oil:

From Young Living’s website, “Geranium has a wonderfully uplifting, calming, flowery scent. It is excellent for the skin, and its aromatic influence helps release negative memories. Used traditionally to support the circulatory and nervous systems, a great deal of its strength lies in its ability to revitalize body tissues.”  Geranium essential oil is a key ingredient in many of Young Living’s skin care products. One of my favorite ways to use essential oils for skin health it to moisten a cotton pad with witch hazel and add a drop of essential oil (like Geranium) for a daily facial cleanser and toner. You can also try a drop of Geranium essential oil in your daily facial moisturizer. :)

Young Living’s Jade Lemon essential oil:

Jade Lemon essential oil is even better than Lemon oil! Jade Lemon is even more lemon-y than plain Lemon essential oil, making it a great addition to recipes. Try 1-2 drops of Jade Lemon with water, tea, or other beverages for a lemon-lime flavor. From Young Living’s website, “Jade Lemon contains high levels of d-limonene, which helps invigorate, uplift, and energize, as well as support clarity of thought and purpose. This oil supports skin health; helps open and release emotional blocks; and is useful to clean, detox, and purify. A 1995 Mie University study also found that citrus fragrances induce relaxation and invoke feelings of happiness.”

 20 Extra Essential Reward Points:

If you are enrolled in the Essential Rewards program, you will earn an additional 20 Essential Reward points to use like cash towards your favorite Young Living products. This is in addition to the 10%, 15%, or 20% back that you already earn on your Essential Rewards order! For example, if I purchase 250 PV, I’ll get my usual 50 points (because I earn 20% back on my Essential Reward orders), plus an additional 20 points back to spend on other Young Living products. That’s 70 points to use as $70.00 towards more oiling goodies!

Young Living’s Life 5 Probiotic:

Life 5 is Young Living’s probiotic. From Young Living, “Life 5 builds and restores core intestinal health by providing five clinically proven probiotic strains including two advanced super strains to enhance intestinal health, sustain energy and improve immunity. Life 5 contains 8 billion active cultures and improves colonization up to 10 times.” Gut health has so much to do with our overall health! My hubby and I both take a daily probiotic and I’m excited to finally try Young Living’s Life 5!

You Know You Love Essential Oils When…

You Know You Love Oils When

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am completely obsessed with my Young Living essential oils. OBSESSED. And I know that I am not alone with my oil obsession! So, I asked other essential oil lovers to help me fill in the blank for this fun blog post. Here’s what we came up with. If you have things to add, feel free to comment below! :)

You know you love essential oils when _____.

  1. You look at the above graphic and realize that it looks like your bathroom cabinet.
  2. You need a bigger purse so you can carry at least 15 oils with you wherever you go.
  3. Your 3-year-old tells his preschool teacher that she shouldn’t be teaching kids to put chemicals on their hands because there are more natural ways to cleanse the hands – those that include oils!
  4. Your boss announces, “I know she’s here, I smell the oils.”
  5. The barista at Starbucks asks if you work at a florist.
  6. You can’t bring yourself to throw those cute empty bottles away. You use some for your personal oiling creations, but mostly end up with a hoard of empties.
  7. You say “hold on” and dig through your purse to find an oil.
  8. Your son says, “Mom, how many oils do you think you REALLY need?”
  9. People kid you that instead of saying, “there’s an app for that,” you say, “there’s an oil for that!”
  10. You anxiously await for your next Essential Rewards order as soon one arrives.
  11. Your son tells you that with all the different oils you put on him that he is going to turn into a puddle of oil.
  12. You panic when you think you’ve lost one.
  13. You have a never-ending wish list of essential oils.
  14. You wear oils as perfume.
  15. You are insistent that your husband use essential oils and have even applied a drop on him while he is sleeping.
  16. Your doctor tells you, “Just keep doing what you are doing.” :)
  17. You watch a commercial and can name at least 10 oils that you would use.
  18. You have a designated diffuser and stash of oils for the office.
  19. You ask God each day, “Who can I bless with my oils and support today?”
  20. You want to tell the whole world how these little bottles can change your life.
  21. You got a new phone and the first app you downloaded was the ‘Reference Guide for Essential Oils.’
  22. You hear a complete stranger talking and you say “There’s an oil for that!”
  23. You fight to get every last drop out of the bottle and are upset when it’s finally empty.
  24. You panic at the thought of being without them.
  25. Your new favorite book is the ‘Essential Oils Desk Reference.’
  26. You know which oils you would grab if there was a zombie apocalypse.
  27. You can’t wait for your order to arrive and get upset when mother nature delays its arrival.
  28. You can find a bottle of oil in your purse quicker than you can find your phone.
  29. You try to pick up your phone or open a door, but realize that it needs to be wiped off first because it is oily.
  30. Your 6-year-old and 11-year-old ask for specific oils by name.
  31. You know you will never buy another air freshener or candle again.
  32. Essential oils become a non negotiable part of your budget.
  33. The graphic says it all! LOL!

Sometimes After I Apply My Oils

    Source of Graphic Unknown

  34. You’ve decided to “sell” oils…for a (*gasp) multilevel marketing company…something you NEVER thought you would do!
  35. Your kids ask “Is there an oil for that?”
  36. You’ve made silly oiling mistakes like applying undiluted Lemongrass (instead of Lavender) underneath your nose – WOOO…WEEE!!!
  37. You spend more time figuring out which oils to pack for your trip than which clothes to bring!
  38. You have little oils stashes all around the house, in your purse, in your coat pocket, on the nightstand, etc.
  39. You have so many oils that you lose one from time to time.
  40. People hug you they say, “You smell like oils.”
  41. You’ve used oils for so many different issues that you hardly have to look in your reference guide anymore.
  42. You could talk about oils all day and can’t help but bring them up even when they have nothing to do with the current conversation.
  43. You’ve accidentally gotten essential oil in your eye…more than once!
  44. You answer your Facebook friend’s questions with an oiling suggesstion.
  45. You no longer feel sorry for people who refuse to use essential oils. They are BIG TIME missing out!
  46. You are known as the crazy, obsessed oil lady at work.
  47. You want to give oils as Christmas, birthday, and baby shower gifts.
  48. You buy them without thinking whether your husband cares or not. After all, you NEED them!
  49. You’ll use an oil for support even though it might be a little stinky to you at first.
  50. Minor, everyday issues are longer nuisances, but rather challenges to prove “THERE’S AN OIL FOR THAT!”

Mailbox Remedies: My December 2014 Young Living Essential Oils Order

Young Living Essential Oils Essential Oils Order December 2014

Whoopsies! Forgot the Joy in the picture!

It’s been a while since I blogged about my Mailbox Remedies. I had such a great Young Living Essential Rewards order this month that I just had to share! I reordered a few oiling favorites this month. I also ordered several new Young Living essential oils (and a new bar soap) that I am so excited to try. Some of the oils I ordered this month were under or right around $20 so I was able to bulk up our order this month. Merry Christmas to Scott and I! :)

Joy essential oil blend:

I reorder Joy every few months. Joy is a blend of Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Rosewood, Lemon, Madarin, Jasmine, Roman Chamomile, Palmarosa, and Rose essential oil. Joy does a great job of uplifting our mood and keeping us in a positive frame of mind.

Melrose essential oil blend:

This is the first time I ordered Melrose. Melrose a blend of Melaleuca Alternifolia, Melaleuca Quinquenervia, Rosemary, and Clove essential oil. Melrose is supposed to be great for cleansing and soothing the skin. I keep hearing how much people love this oil so I just had to order it!

Thieves essential oil blend:

I order a bottle of Thieves every single month. Seriously…every month. Thieves is a blend of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oil. We use Thieves daily to support our immune and respiratory system. Thieves is one of my favorite essential oils to use this time of year.

Clove essential oil:

This is the first time I ordered Clove essential oil. I love having a whole arsenal of oils to support our body’s natural defenses and this one will fit right in with the others I already have on hand.

Deep Relief essential oil roll-on:

Deep Relief is a blend of Peppermint, Lemon, Balsam Fir, Copaiba, Clove, Wintergreen, Helichrysum, Vetiver, and Palo Santo essential oil. I ordered Deep Relief for the first time last month. My hubby has been working hard on getting our snowmobiles tweaked and tuned up for the snow so I gave him the entire bottle of Deep Relief to use at his disposal on his neck and back when he comes in from the garage. Scott says that Deep Relief is one of his new favorite oils. I bought my own bottle of Deep Relief this month so we don’t have to share. :)

Lavender essential oil:

Lavender is an oil we use and order pretty often because it is so gentle and so versatile. We use Lavender for a TON of things.

Pine essential oil:

This is the first time I’ve ordered Pine. It just seemed to fit well with Holidays! :)

Vetiver essential oil:

Vetiver essential oil was the free promotional oil this month (I got it for ordering 190 PV). I am excited about this oil because it is supposed to be quite effective at decreasing the jitters and promoting relaxation.

Wintergreen essential oil:

This is the first time that I ordered Wintergreen. I absolutely love how Wintergreen smells and I am looking forward to diffusing this oil. It also a great oil to have on hand to soothe muscles.

Thieves bar soap:

I ordered the Thieves bar soap for the first time last month. This is by far the best soap I have ever used! I have tried so many different bar soaps and body washes and this is the first time I have been able to find one that leaves me feeling and smelling 100% clean.

Lemon Sandalwood bar soap:

I loved the Thieves bar soap so much that had to try another scent. I never thought it was possible to be so excited about bar soap!

How to Dilute Essential Oils Using Recycled Bottles

Tips for Pre-Diluting Your YLEO

You can also check a reference guide for essential oil dilution instructions.

I wrote a blog post the other day titled “How to Reuse Your Empty Young Living Essential Oil Bottles.” If you read it, you will know that empty essential oil bottles are perfect for pre-diluting your essential oils. Having your Young Living essential oils already diluted, allows for quick and easy oil application of your favorite essential oils (especially if you are on-the-go). To piggy back off of my “How to Reuse Your Empty Young Living Essential Oil Bottles” blog post, this one will teach you how to dilute essential oils using those recycled bottles.

Tip # 1) Check the back of each Young Living essential oil bottle – or – your reference guide

There is a label on the back of each Young Living essential oil bottle. If that essential oil is primarily used topically, the label will tell you whether that essential oil should be diluted with a carrier oil before applying it to the skin. You can also check your reference guide for dilution instructions. Young Living essential oils typically require no dilution, a 1:1 dilution (1 drop of essential oil in at least 1 drop of carrier oil), or a 1:4 dilution (1 drop of essential oil in at least 4 drops of carrier oil).

Tip # 2) Store a small amount of carrier oil in a glass dropper bottle

My favorite carrier oil is Young Living’s V-6 oil (other carrier oils like olive oil can also be used). I keep a small amount of V-6 oil in a 2 ounce glass dropper bottle to assure my ratios are accurate when I am pre-diluting my essential oils. If you don’t have a glass dropper bottle, however, no worries…I have tips below for you too.

Tip # 3) How to pre-dilute Young Living essential oils in recycled 5-ml bottles (holds about 80 drops)

-For an essential oil that is to be diluted 1:1 (1 drop of essential oil to at least 1 drop of carrier oil):

  • To fill the whole 5-ml bottle, add 40 drops of essential oil and 40 drops of carrier oil (or add 40 drops of essential oil and fill the rest of the bottle up with carrier oil)
  • To fill half of the 5-ml bottle, add 20 drops of essential oil and 20 drops of carrier oil (or add 20 drops of essential oil and add carrier oil until the bottle is half full)

-For an essential oil that is to be diluted 1:4 (1 drop of essential oil to at least 4 drops of carrier oil):

  • To fill the whole 5-ml bottle, add 16 drops of essential oil and 64 drops of carrier oil (or add 16 drops of essential oil and fill the rest of the bottle up with carrier oil)
  • To fill half of the 5-ml bottle, add 8 drops of essential oil and 32 drops of carrier oil (or add 8 drops of essential oil and add carrier oil until the bottle is half full)

Because essential oils differ in consistency, these measurements are approximate. Therefore, be sure to pay attention as you fill your bottles. You don’t want it to overflow!

Tip # 4) How to pre-dilute Young Living essential oils in recycled 15-ml bottles (holds about 250 drops)

-For an essential oil that is to be diluted 1:1 (1 drop of essential oil to at least 1 drop of carrier oil):

  • To fill the whole 15-ml bottle, add 125 drops of essential oil and 125 drops of carrier oil (or add 125 drops of essential oil and fill the rest of the bottle up with carrier oil)
  • To fill half of the 15-ml bottle, add 63 drops of essential oil and 63 drops of carrier oil (or add 63 drops of essential oil and add carrier oil until the bottle is half full)

-For an essential oil that is to be diluted 1:4 (1 drop of essential oil to at least 4 drops of carrier oil):

  • To fill the whole 15-ml bottle, add 50 drops of essential oil and 200 drops of carrier oil (or add 50 drops of essential oil and fill the rest of the bottle up with carrier oil)
  • To fill half of the 15-ml bottle, add 25 drops of essential oil and 100 drops of carrier oil (or add 25 drops of essential oil and add carrier oil until the bottle is half full)

Because essential oils differ in consistency, these measurements are approximate. Therefore, be sure to pay attention as you fill your bottles. You don’t want it to overflow!

Tip # 5) How to pre-dilute Young Living essential oils for infants and small children in recycled bottles

-Essential oils are typically diluted much more for use infants and young children. According to the Reference Guide for Essential Oils, 1-2 drops of essential oil is diluted in at least 1/2-1 teaspoon of carrier oil. A small amount of the diluted mixture is then applied to the skin.

  • a 5-ml bottle holds about 1 teaspoon
  • a 15-ml bottle holds about 3 teaspoons or 1 Tablespoon

Because essential oils differ in consistency, these measurements are approximate. Therefore, be sure to pay attention as you fill your bottles. You don’t want it to overflow!

Tip # 6) Use Young Living AromaGlide Roller Fitments

Make topical application with your essential oils easier yet by using Young Living’s AromaGlide Roller Fitments (aka: roller-balls). The fitments come 10 per pack and fit on a 5-ml and 15-ml Young Living essential oil bottle. I love Young Living’s roller-ball fitments! When I want to use my pre-diluted essential oil, I just give my bottle a quick shake, unscrew the cap, and roll it right on my skin. Seriously…it doesn’t get any easier than that! :)

How to Reuse Empty Young Living Essential Oil Bottles

Do you have a hard time throwing your empty Young Living essential oil bottles away? I do! Tossing these high quality and cute little bottles in the garbage just seems so wasteful. I threw my first several empty bottles away until I realized that I could reuse them. Learn how to reuse empty Young Living essential oil bottles below. You will never toss them again! :)

Reuse Young Living Essential Oil Bottles

Step 1

Carefully remove the label from the Young Living essential oil bottle. If you look real closely, there is a place to peel the label up on the bottom of each bottle. If you go slowly enough, you’ll have no problem removing the label. Every so often, I get a label that gives me a little trouble, but for the most part the labels peel off pretty easily.

Remove the Label From the Bottle

Step 2

Remove the caps and peel the tops off of each Young Living essential oil bottle. Sometimes I keep the caps and tops. Other times, I toss them in the garbage. I’ll give you tips below for both options.

Take Covers and Tops Off

Step 3

Fill a glass jar with Epsom salt. I cleaned and reused an empty coconut oil jar (you can also use a large mason jar). Dump any lingering drops of essential oil into the jar. Then, place each essential oil bottle into the jar, cover, and let sit until you are ready for step 4 (below). I let my essential oil bottles sit in the Epsom salt until the jar is full of empty bottles and I am ready to clean them all at once. I carefully rotate the jar around from time to time (so the oils evenly mix with the Epsom salt).

*Speaking from experience, make sure you take the labels off of the essential oil bottles before you put them into the Epsom salt. Otherwise you will have pieces of the label floating around in the Epsom salt.

Add Bottles to Jar of Epsom Salt

Step 4

When ready, pull the Young Living essential oil bottles out of the Epsom salt. Shake out any Epsom salt that might be sitting inside of each essential oil bottle. Cover and hang onto your essential oil infused Epsom salt. Now you have an awesome therapeutic bath or foot soak! :)

Therapeutic Bath Soak

Step 5

Rinse the essential oil bottles out with water. Then, soak the essential oil bottles, caps, and tops in a container filled with water and 2-3 Tablespoons of white vinegar. Let it soak for a few hours (or overnight).

Soak Bottles in Water and Vinegar

Step 6

Remove the Young Living essential oil bottles, caps, and tops from the water and vinegar mixture. Gently scrub off any remaining label residue from the outside of the bottle. Rinse the bottles, caps, and tops with water and lay on a towel to dry.

Rinse Bottles and Let Dry

Step 7

Use your empty and clean Young Living essential oil bottles to pre-dilute your essential oils or to make your own essential oil blends for quick and easy topical application. Once you have diluted and/or blended your essential oils together in your empty bottles, you can put the original tops and caps back on the bottles. Or, you can purchase the roller ball fitments that Young Living sells. The roller balls fit on 5-ml and 15-ml bottles. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the roller balls because it allows me to just roll the essential oil right on my skin (perfect for on-the-go oiling). Easy and no mess!
